Mobile App
Rela AI works as a phone app without downloading from an app store. It installs in seconds from the browser and works even when internet signal is intermittent.
Mobile App
Field technicians do not always work in front of a computer. They are on the plant floor, on the building roof, in the machine room — with a phone in hand. Rela AI's mobile app is designed for those moments: looking up a technical datasheet, updating a task status, completing a checklist, or scanning a QR code on equipment, all from a phone without depending on a strong internet signal.
What is it for?
The mobile app extends the dashboard to the field. Instead of the technician having to return to the office to record what they found, they can do it directly where they are working. If there is no signal, the system saves the actions and synchronizes them automatically when the connection is restored.
The mobile app allows you to:
- Look up asset sheets, maintenance history, and checklists from a phone
- Update task status and complete checklists in the field
- Scan QR codes on equipment to open its profile immediately
- Create quick tasks and upload failure photos directly from the equipment
- Receive alarm and assigned task notifications on the phone
- Work with available data even when the signal is intermittent
How does it work?
Rela AI is a Progressive Web App (PWA) — a technology that allows the website to function as a native application on a phone without going through the App Store or Google Play. It installs in seconds from the browser and behaves like a normal app: it has its own icon on the home screen, can receive notifications, and saves data locally to work without a signal.
When there is a signal, the app uses real-time data. When the signal drops or is weak, it uses data saved on the device so the technician can keep working. Actions performed without signal (updating a task, marking a checklist) synchronize automatically as soon as the connection returns.
How to use it?
Install the app on a phone
No app store visit required:
On Android (Chrome):
- Open the Rela AI dashboard in Chrome.
- Tap the menu (three dots in the top right corner).
- Tap "Add to Home Screen".
- Confirm. The app appears as an icon on your home screen.
On iPhone/iPad (Safari):
- Open the Rela AI dashboard in Safari.
- Tap the share icon (the box with the upward arrow).
- Tap "Add to Home Screen".
- Confirm. The app appears as an icon on your home screen.
The app updates automatically when a new version is available — no manual update from a store needed.
Navigate the app in the field
The app is optimized for small screens and thumb navigation. The most frequently used field sections have quick access:
Floating button (bottom right corner): Tap to see the most frequent actions:
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| New task | Create a quick work order from the field |
| Scan QR | Open an asset's profile by scanning its QR code |
| Quick report | Log an incident with description and photos |
| Take photo | Photograph a failure and attach it to an existing task |
Work without internet signal
When a technician enters a zone without signal (machine room, basement, high-voltage area), the app shows a connection indicator bar:
| Indicator | What it means | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| Green | Normal connection | Everything works in real time |
| Red | No connection | Works with saved data — actions sync later |
| Pulsing yellow | Reconnecting | The app is trying to restore the connection |
| Blue with progress | Syncing | Saved actions are being sent to the server |
Actions you can perform without signal:
- Complete and update existing tasks
- Mark checklist items
- Add text comments
- Upload photos up to 5 MB
- Create quick tasks
All these actions synchronize automatically when the connection is recovered.
If you close the app or clear browser data before pending actions sync, those actions will be lost. Check the pending menu to confirm all actions synchronized correctly before closing the app.
View pending actions waiting to sync
While there is no signal, the Pending menu shows actions in queue:
- Queued — waiting for connection to sync
- Syncing — being sent to the server now
- Error — sync failed (the system retries automatically)
Enable notifications on the phone
To receive alerts even when the app is not open:
- When the app asks for notification permission, accept.
- In your profile, go to Notifications and configure which ones you want to receive.
- Notifications you can enable include: assigned tasks, critical equipment alarms, and upcoming maintenance plan reminders.
Key benefits
- Installation in seconds without an app store
- Works in the field even when signal is intermittent or absent
- Automatic sync when the connection is restored
- QR code scanning directly from the phone camera
- Push notifications without needing the app open
- Automatic updates without user intervention
- Same dashboard features optimized for phone screens
Common use cases
Scenario 1: Inspection in a no-signal zone A technician performs an inspection round in the basement machine room — a no-signal zone. They open the app, which shows the red "no connection" bar. They access today's assigned tasks (available in cache) and complete the compressor C-01 inspection checklist: mark 8 verification points, add a note of "low oil level" with a photo. They exit the room and upon reaching the corridor with signal, the blue bar briefly appears syncing. Within 30 seconds everything is recorded on the server.
Scenario 2: Identifying unknown equipment A new technician arrives at the compressor area and does not know all the equipment. They open the app's floating button, tap "Scan QR," and point the camera at the QR code attached to the compressor. The app immediately opens the asset profile: Compressor C-03, production area line 2, last maintenance 15 days ago, AHI 72 (Grade B), responsible technician Miguel Torres. They have the full equipment context in seconds without searching any system.
Scenario 3: Urgent failure report from the field The shift technician notices oil on the floor near pump B-07. From the app they take 3 photos of the spill, open the "Quick report" button, describe the problem, and select pump B-07 as the affected asset with high priority. The app creates the task automatically, notifies the shift supervisor, and records the photographic evidence. All in under 2 minutes without returning to the control room.
